Not Seen On ESPN

In case you missed it, Saturday evening’s “Faster Pastor” event hosted at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, New Jersey was won by…me! Sadly, ESPN failed to file a report for Sports Center!  Apparently guys going around in circles on a half-mile dirt track doesn’t have quite the national appeal as other sporting events…who knew! A … Continue reading »

There’s an interesting story archived at Christianity Today about the American religious landscape.  The 70 plus percent of Americans that call themselves Christians can be divided into 5 identifiable categories. Here’s a quick summary. When you get a chance, read the article.  It’s pretty interesting. Active Christians 19% ● Believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ ● … Continue reading »

The Curious Case of Life

Last night I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with my family.  After being nominated for 13 Academy Awards I was anxious to see it, and it’s actually not a bad flick.  My wife would say, “It has Brad Pitt…what else do ya want!”    If you’ve not seen it it’s certainly worth the buck you pay at … Continue reading »

Madden's Passion!

John Madden retired from the booth this year, so football will never be quite the same. I’ve always found Madden’s style of broadcasting to be interesting, even though he sometimes uses a lot of words to point out the most obvious things. It was his enthusiasm for the sport that made him so fun to … Continue reading »

Finishing Well!

I like to run.  Since Jr. High School when I joined the track and field team it has been a part of my life.  I’m not fast, but I can go far!  That’s why I love the story of Shizo Kanakuri.  In 1912, as a marathon runner he was chosen to represent Japan in the Summer Olympics at Stockholm. … Continue reading »

Late Night Ramblings

It’s almost 1:30 in the morning and I’m wide awake.  The alarm will go off in a matter of hours, and of course by then I’ll probably be dead to the world.  Part of my insomnia is due in part to a wild thought I can’t seem to shake:  What would Christian Life Center look … Continue reading »

Unseen Things

Since January of this year I’ve been reading through the Bible in chronological order.  I have what is called “The Daily Bible” and each day’s reading is presented in the timeline it occurred.  At the moment I’m deeply entrenched in the life of Solomon. Early in his reign God gave Solomon the opportunity to ask for anything … Continue reading »

Tomorrow @CLC!

Have you ever asked the question, “What does it take to please God?”  There are some people who think the way you please God is through religious ritual. If certain kinds of rituals are completed then God is pleased and you’re in the in-crowd.  But that’s not true.  There are others who think the way … Continue reading »
